Q & A

What can I expect on my first visit?

On your first visit, the doctor will sit down with you and discuss your full medical history. At this point you will have the opportunity to tell your story of how your pain began and any history pertaining to your condition. The doctor will then take you through a comprehensive physical examination to pinpoint exactly where the pain is stemming from. Together, you and our practitioner will figure out a plan to get you feeling better as soon as possible and keep you feeling better.

What does an average visit look like?

Our practitioners at Proactive Chiropractic Center utilize a number of cutting edge musculoskeletal techniques to get you feeling your best and staying your best. A typical treatment at Proactive consists of a multi-modal approach, including but not limited to chiropractic adjustments, manual therapy, graston technique,  instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping therapy, targeted rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises, stretching, and traction/decompression therapy.

Do I need an x-ray or an MRI to begin care?

Upon your initial visit, our practitioners will decide if advanced imaging such as an x-ray or MRI is required. You do not need an x-ray to begin care at Proactive Chiropractic Center. In certain situations the practitioners may send for imaging if they feel it is necessary to achieve your goals.

Why should I see a Chiropractor?
Seeing a chiropractor is not only for back and neck pain. Chiropractic care is an excellent way to keep your body at its peak performance through nutrition, adjustments, exercise and overall wellness. We commonly manage: low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, neuropathy, pinched nerves, headaches, acute pain, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, frozen shoulder, tendinopathy, tendinitis, whiplash, automobile accident injuries, shoulder impingement, golfers elbow, tennis elbow, disc herniations, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee pain, runners knee spinal stenosis, pronator teres syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome.

What is a joint or muscular restriction?
The human musculoskeletal system is comprised of bone, joints, muscle, and fascia. These joints and muscles need to articulate with one another and move smoothly in a healthy functioning body. Sometimes, these joints and tissues can get stuck, and not move as well as they need to. This often causes pain and dysfunction. Much like an automobile, these restrictions can cause imbalances throughout the rest of the body, leading to further dysfunction and pain.

Do you take insurance?

At Proactive Chiropractic Center we take most forms of major medical insurance including but not limited to: Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Horizon, Cigna, and auto accident insurance.

What is a chiropractic adjustment? Is it safe?
A chiropractic adjustment is the mobilization of a vertebrae of the spine. The objective of this movement is to remobilize a joint that has become stuck or immobile for a number of reasons. These joints become stuck from stress, injury, car accidents, poor posture, and repetitive movements.

What results can I expect from treatment?
Feeling better, healing better, moving better, sleeping better, performing better, and doing it all with less pain. You can expect to getting back to the things you love to do and feeling stronger while doing them.
